In this class we discuss the more recent moral battles that preceded the issues of so-called same-sex marriage in our day as well as the assumptions about public morality earlier in our nation’s history which set the stage for the battles we face today. We also review briefly the somewhat similar misperceptions amongst many in the recent past that the moral issue of homosexuality and same-sex marriage was a settled issue in our land.
