We discuss the argument from analogy offered by the Inclusive Hymnodist, to wit, that the similar function of prayers and worship song is such that the criteria used for determining the content of prayer may consequently be used to determine the content of worship song. We find that this analogy fails first, because it is arbitrary and may be used to turn the content of any ordinance into the content of any other ordinance if they have a similar function; and second, because God nowhere authorises such a principle for the determination of the content of any worship ordinance. We begin a discussion of why the Exclusive Psalmodist would sing only the worship songs found in the Canonical Psalter.
